[Events]   MHB Digital recently attended the grand launch of Unknownz Hype Bar on 30 June 2019. The new bar is the latest hidden, stylish and cool sports/ arcade bar located at Tropicana Avenue in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. As it has a “hidden bar” concept, the entrance to the bar is not visible from the outside. To find Unknownz Hype Bar, simply head upstairs to the convenience store (there’s only one on the first floor and it’s decked out mostly in white) on the first floor, walk in then open the left most (innermost from the entrance) fridge door which … Continue reading MHB Digital at the Grand Launch of Unknownz Hype Bar, Tropicana Avenue, Petaling Jaya

[MIGF 2018]   Ruby and I headed over to Champignons in Oasis Square, Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, recently to try out their Malaysia International Gastronomy Festival 2018 menu, having tried a couple of their sampling portions at the recent Taste MIGF 2018 at Berjaya Times Square Hotel. Champignons serves rustic and contemporary European cuisine with a modern touch, and opened at the end of 2017. The restaurant is popular among diners as it offers an (slightly more) upscale experience without breaking the bank. In fact, Ruby and I observed the other diners and there was a good mix of both … Continue reading MIGF 2018 Menu at Champignons at Oasis Square, Ara Damansara

The Kuala Lumpur Restaurant & Dining Market Conundrum

[Food & Beverage] Disclaimer – I am not food and beverage expert nor do I claim to be one. The following is purely my opinion based on my recent observations and conversations with brand owners, proprietors and consumers. Being in the media gives me a unique position where we are the bridge between brands (in this case restaurants since we’re talking about the restaurant and dining market) with consumers. Given the high level of competition these days from F&B establishments all vying for a shrinking pie of consumer spending, it’s not surprising to see shuttered restaurants in almost every neighbourhood, … Continue reading The Kuala Lumpur Restaurant & Dining Market Conundrum

Oktoberfest Platter (2016) at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant

[Food Review]   MHB’s Jamie and Jean, Jean’s friend, and Andy Kho recently joined me at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant at Sunway Pyramid to try out the 2016 Oktoberfest Platter as well as some new dishes in the menu.  Oktoberfest was initially started as wedding celebration in 1810 to commemorate the union between Crown Prince Ludwig (who later became King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen at Theresienwiese (translated as Therese’s meadow / field) – it is for this reason that Oktoberfest is referred to by Germans as ‘die Wiesn’ or ‘the field’ Through the years, Oktoberfest … Continue reading Oktoberfest Platter (2016) at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant
